CPD / Training Opportunities
The CALL Centre works to support pupils with Additional Support Needs, especially those with speech, communication and/or reading and writing difficulties, and the staff who work with them. The Centre is based in the University of Edinburgh’s Moray House School of Education.
CALL is a General Teaching Council for Scotland registered Continuing Professional Development provider and offers a range of CPD opportunities.
Courses pay due attention to recent legislation on Additional Support for Learning and Accessibility.
Though CALL works primarily with children, a number of courses are also suitable for people working with adults with disabilities. All courses held at the CALL Centre are open to parents and family members as well as to all professionals working with people with additional support needs.

Working Together on Passports
This new course introduces professionals and parents to the Passports process, in an interdisciplinary format, motivating and supporting them and building-in good practice, giving them time while also focusing them on successful completion through provision of a structured timetable with a target completion date. All studies looking at how to promote ‘joined up working’ between different professionals have recommended joint training as one effective route - here is an excellent opportunity to achieve that, through the use of Passports as a common focus.

ICT & ASN within the Moray House Additional Support for Learning Programme
For the last three years the CALL Centre has offered an ICT and Additional Support Needs module as part of the Additional Support for Learning Programme (previously known as the Modular Masters) at the Moray House School of Education in the University of Edinburgh. The course can be taken by professionals undertaking the full Diploma or Masters degree, or as a stand-alone.
This course introduces the range of ICT resources available and develops ICT skills of course members in their use. It covers ICT to support learners with physical disability; language and communication impairment; sensory impairment; and specific and general learning difficulties.
