    Family Technology Fun Day, 2007

    Date: Saturday, 28th April, 2007, 11 am – 4 pm

Venue: CALL Centre, Paterson’s Land, Moray House School of Education, St John’s Street, Edinburgh EH8 8AQ

For Children with Additional Support Needs

Organised and supported by: CALL Centre, FACCT, KEYCOMM, SCTCI and TASSCC.

The Day is run by specialist staff from the CALL Centre (Edinburgh), KEYCOMM (Edinburgh), FACCT (Fife), SCTCI (Glasgow) and TASSCC (Aberdeen) ICT and communication aids centres and other centres. Funding has been provided by Augmentative Communication in Practice: Scotland.

This will be an Open Day for parents and the whole family of children with additional support needs. Come along if you would like to learn more about (and try out!) software and hardware and specialised communication technologies that might help to support children with communication and /or writing problems. (Teachers, therapists, social work and social care professionals, or others, are also welcome.)

There is no charge for the day. Refreshments will be provided. Drop in, or stay all day.

There will be displays of information and materials and demonstrations of computer software. There will be opportunities to have ‘hands-on’ time on computers, with experienced staff on hand to advise and suggest suitable educational software – and to untangle you if necessary. You will have a chance to play with toys adapted for switch use, make your own cards, watch videos, play games, win prizes in our Treasure Hunt, and so on.

At intervals during the day, there will be activities such as ‘story time’ sessions using toys, simple voice output devices and symbol story boards; music-making sessions; and a chance to ride in the ‘CALL Centre Smart Wheelchair’.

Please let us know if you wish to come, and tell us the ages of children you are bringing, so that we can be prepared!

Please phone the CALL Centre (Tel. 0131 651 6236) well in advance if you wish to discuss any special arrangements your family might require. Early booking is advised!

You can download a flier with a booking form here, but you will need to return it to us by Thursday, 12th April. Alternatively, use the booking form below to book your place.
